Kinderscenen Op.15 by Schumann
The word kinderscenen means scenes from childhood... its basically a collection of 13 very short pieces of music that are written to portray a child's world/feelings/etc. Though composed through a child's view, but it's difficult to play well haha. Simple songs are hard to play. Cos you cannot sound overly doing it, and yet still need to bring out that innocent essence with the most sophisticated musicality.
It's amazing to play things back to more basic.. dealing with the simple and hardest thing - control! When you don't have mega pages of non-stop running notes or gigantic chords every bar, suddenly you're just stripped down to the bare basics of music again... and the feeling is just amazing.
Who says you have to play Liszt and Chopin just because you're advanced?
It's an art to play music.. the kind of music that touches people's heart.
Here's Horowitz playing Kinderscenen. He played it with so many colors, I could imagine all the pictures and stories inside my head.
