A Good Day

hej hej,

how are you today? I have some to write, but first, let me start off with an excerpt from "The Time Traveler's Wife", page 128.

~*~*~*~

A few nights later, I am sitting by Grandmas's bed, reading Mrs. Dalloway to her. It's evening. I look up; Grandma seems to be asleep. I stop reading, and close the book. Her eyes open.

"Hello," I say.
"Do you ever miss him?" she asks me.
"Every day. Every minute."
"Every minute," she says. "Yes. It's that way, isn't it?" She turns on her side and burrows into the pillow.
"Good night," I say, turning out the lamp. As I stand in the dark looking down at Grandma in her bed, self-pity floods me as though I have been injected with it. It's that way, isn't it? Isn't it.

~*~*~*~

Not sure why, but I just felt a tinge through my face after reading this excerpt. Just wanted to share it with you, hope you enjoyed the 10 seconds of literature.

Well, well, my exams are over, and I screwed up Stats big time. In fact, I screwed up so badly this time, I had 1) a dream about it, 2) I feel terribly numb about it, 3) it comes back occasionally during the day. But WHO CARES? seriously.

I went shopping with Huiyu on Wednesday - and she got a cool $25 chocolate top which goes with her skirt, and I bought a $13 handbag (do you consider that two great steals?), and I went shopping yet again today with Val, though its mere window shopping. Val bought a cool belt though! We tried on retro dresses at Shibuya! Val had a cyan awesome dress on, and I tried a funky black one. Two fabulous single girls, looking priceless. Gosh, we need to GET invitations to christmas dinners! seriously.

Of course, the best part this evening was having our brownie with ice-cream at Mariott's Häagen Dazs. Who cares about the calories and fat? Weather was rainy, smudgy grey skies, and the crowd...people, people and people walking past with shopping bags, cars crawling by as we sit there by the white minimalist table, staring out through the foggy glass pane - damn, its so surreal. Almost feels like christmas, and coupled with a bit more imagination, it could jolly well be snowing in Orchard. Just the two of us, sitting there, chatting about our lives, chatting about our friends, about cute guys, about our prospective imaginery boyfriends... awesome.

This is what I call, a good day.
